| PROPAGANDA POSTER - DO WITH LESS Office of War Information poster, no. 37. 1943 - 11'' x 17'' reproduction propaganda poster in a stiff plastic protective display sleeve.
Photographic design played an important role in the production of many WWII posters. Government-sponsored ads, radio shows, pamphlets and poster campaigns such as this one, urged the American people to comply.
To encourage rationing on the home front, this poster features a an appealing 'GI Joe' drinking coffee from his canteen cup, and the words 'Do with less - so they'll have enough! - Rationing gives you your fair share'
Rationing of consumer goods was introduced in March 1942 and continued throughout World War II and nearly one year after, ending in 1946 - a typical sugar ration was 12 ounces a week, validation stamps only allowed three gallons of gas a week, shoes lasted the whole year between early 1943 and late 1945.
